WINDHOVER

2016

Windhover is NC State University's literary and arts magazine. Serving as editor-in-chief my sophomore year of college, I hired a team of 10+ students to fill roles such as literary editor, committee members, and designers. Previous editors-in-chief had come from literary and communication backgrounds. Because of this, I hired a strong literary team and executed much of the organization's design myself. For the design of the actual 50th volume, I worked with two other designers, Ryland Bishop and Sonia Hupfeld-Cousineu. I also worked directly with a local offset printing company,Theo Davis Printing, to work out a plan within our budget that allowed for some flourishes.

PRODUCTION

Working within a limited budget, the design team met with Theo Davis Printing to determine what our options were. We decided on the optimal page count and decided on using a rainbow foil print for the cover and select page signatures.

BRAND

When I came on as Editor-in-Chief, Windhover lacked a consistent brand. As the design and the theme of the publication changed from year to year, I felt it was important for Windhover to have a recognizable brand across campus as the university's literary & arts magazine. These are some select graphics that I made to gather submissions and promote our open mic nights. I also put together a new website for us and made branded merchandise. These designs are still being carried on for the current publication.
